Coupled with stiletto heels, the pressure these jeans put on the femoral cutaneous nerve that runs through the thigh can cause tingling and burning through the leg.

Meralgia paresthetica or "tingling thigh syndrome" is apparently caused when too-tight jeans compress a nerve that cuts off sensation to the thigh. The pressure of the tight, heavy jean material causes the nerve to become “pinched” underneath the ligament that runs from the groin to the thigh causing reduced sensation. At the same time, tingling and numbness can develop. Of course, pain can be part of the picture too which can make the experience of wearing skinny jeans even for short periods of time quite uncomfortable.

Parmeeta Ghoman, who developed this condition, remembers the initial feeling of what has become known as “tingling thigh syndrome.” She said, “It felt really strange — it felt like my leg had gone to sleep.”

Though the condition is nothing new and has largely appeared in construction workers, pregnant women and obese people, the affliction in young, fit women has become more prominent in recent years.

“The nerve, in some people, is susceptible to compression,” Dr. John England, of the American Academy of Neurology said. “It is a pure sensory nerve — it doesn’t go to muscles or provide strength. Anything that is tight around there could potentially compress the nerve that goes there.”

But before your start burning your skinny britches, remember that the damage is rarely permanent. According to chiropractic physician Dr. William Madosky, “The key is, you remove the pressure, and the nerve regenerates.” So, limit the number of times you wear tight, skinny jeans. The French fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, has teamed up with underwear firm La Perla to work on a new collection.The new line will comprise 27, styles - nearly all handmade - including a waist-cinching corset and bra inspired by the cone bra that the designer created for Madonna in the Nineties.

Gaultier famously designed Madonna's cone bra during the 90s but he has never officially launched a lingerie line until now. The collection will be available in November 2010 and two limited-edition pieces are set to feature in the label's couture show next month. The 27-piece line will range from $600 to $1,200 and include corsets, bodysuits, and bras. According to WWD, two limited-edition pieces, including a satin bra with a shoulder strap motif - will feature in the label's couture show on July 7. Prices will start at £405 for bras and briefs and £811 for corsets.

While he's currently working on the lingerie ranch, it was recently revealed Gaultier is quitting his role as artistic director at Hermes, where he had been working since 2003.

After an intimate introduction with mangrove, she began to look after the best solution for preserving mangrove as well as creating its sustainable community. The first solution was Sirvega, liquid soap made of Toga mangrove. She claimed that the soap specially made for washing batik cloths is eco-friendly as made of mangrove from species Jijibus jujuba and two other plant species.

Eventually, mangrove forest gives her brilliant ideas. As former art teacher, she applied her artistry into her latest concern to create Mangrove batik. Leaves, flower, fruit, and other parts of mangrove tree as well as organisms living on the environment become her main inspiration. The result, there are 44 pattern designs of mangrove batik she has created in 2009, such as "Aegiceras corniculatum", "A. floridum", "Avicennia alba", "Bruguiera cylindrica", "Lumnitzera racemosa", "Acanthus ilicifolius", "Xylocarpus granatum", "Sonneratia alba", "Rhizophora mucronata", "Pemphis acidula", "Nypa fruticans", "Barringtonia asiatica", "Calophyllum inophyllum", "Calotropis gigantea", "Pandanus tectorius", "Acrostichum aureum", "Ipomoea pes-caprae".

Each pattern is specifically titled according to both local and latin names of mangrove species it resembled. Pattern of Tanjang putih, for example, is depicting mangrove growth that resembles the species Bruguiera cylindrica of the family Rhizophoraceae. In Mange kasihan pattern, a tree featuring the species Aegicera floridum from the family Myrsinaceae is delicately design with figures of crab, fish, dan shrimph as its decorations.

Apart from the pattern, this new batik style also uses various parts of mangrove tree on its process of production. In coloring process, a mixture made of fruit and flower of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza is used to create red. Shade of yellow is taken from mixture of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Calophyllum inophyllum, locally called nyamplung.

As a handmade and eco-friendly art, Mangrove batik has its own exclusive value. Developed within a society with very fluid, flexible art value, each piece of mangrove batik has its own perfection as well as human flaw. Each of 60 batik artists on the society work freely in applying patterns and their combinations. The most important value lies on its eco-friendly processing method. What makes it more special is that it takes a month to make a piece of mangrove batik, three weeks longer than chemically processed batik.

After exhibiting in Los Angeles (June 1 - 4, 2009) and Chicago (May 17 - 20, 2009), the Indonesian batik collection of Obama's Mother, Ann Dunham was exhibited in San Fransisco (June 18 - 21, 2009). After that, the other cities where will be taken as an exhibition place are Houston (July 2 - 5, 2009), New York (July 21 - 24, 209), adn the last is in Washington (August 9 - 23, 2009). Above are some pictures of Indonesian Batik Collection of Barack Obama's Mother when exhibited in San Fransisco. In this time, there are 20 pieces of clothes and 2 pieces of shawls, the Indonesian Batik that were collected by ANn Dunham when she was living in Indonesia. Those batik consists of batik from Yogyakarta, Solo, Indramayu, Cirebon, Pekalongan, and Madura.
The theme of this exhibition is "A Lady Found A Culture in Its Cloth: Barack Obama`s Mother and Indonesian Batiks" and taken place in California College of the Arts, San Francisco. This exhibition was attended by more than 250 people.

Trashion. What is it?

Simply, trashion = trash + fashion.

So, trashion is meant to imply that things made from recycled objects don't need to be lacking in style. While anyone can browse a vintage or thrift store, someone interested in trashion might also delve into free boxes, piles, of discards destined for the dump, and other more unconventional sources for potential artistic inspiration. Trashion is a word which is used to refer to objects and garments produced from discarded, unwanted, and leftover items. Trashion encompasses everything from home décor to garments, and public interest in trashion started exploding in the late 1990s, when being environmentally ethical while staying chic started to come into style. People believe that by re-using unwanted items, they are both benefiting the environment and the items themselves, by giving such items a new purpose in life.
